Crest Toothpaste

Checked my toothpaste - Crest Pro Health - all the tube says is "distributed by Proctor &Gamble, Cincinnati, Ohio" so I emailed Crest to ask them where the toothpaste is made - This is the response I received:

Hello Shelley,

Thanks for contacting Crest.

Crest toothpaste is manufactured in North America, the majority at our facility in Greensboro, North Carolina.  The only versions of Crest Toothpaste that are not made in Greensboro, NC are the Neat Squeeze Tubes and the 6.2 oz Crest Plus Scope Minty Fresh Striped Toothpaste, both of which are made in Mexico City, Mexico.  Crest Cavity Protection is also manufactured in Toronto, Canada.

Please be assured, Crest toothpaste is safe when used as directed.  All Crest products go through rigorous scientific evaluations before going to market, and are continually monitored for safety once available to the public.  For more information about this issue, please visit www.pg.com.

Whenever a tube of Crest toothpaste is made outside of the U.S. it will specifically say on the packaging what country it was made in.

Thanks again for writing.

A home inventory

I suppose to start this whole challenge, I really need to look at my home and see what I have and where those things are made.  I'm starting with the little stuff --

Checked my shampoo -- Bath and Body Works -- says it's "distributed in the U.S.A."  so I think it's clearly not made in the USA -- so shampoo and conditioner made in the USA is going to have to go on my shopping list!

Green Bedding

This is where I found the organic cotton blanket - When it arrives I will let you know what I think!

Day One = April 1st

After spending more than 3 hours on the internet yesterday trying to find affordable, green, USA made bedding I decided to challenge myself to becoming more aware of what I buy, so beginning April 1, 2011 I am going to start a challenge to only buy USA made products for an entire year or explain why I am not.  So I figured I'd start this blog to track my progress and keep myself honest.

Hopefully I can provide some good information to others about quality USA made products in the process.

I'm starting the challenge on April 1st to give myself time to do some research and take an inventory of the things I use everyday and figure out where they are made.
